A work-in-progress, one of many: Faux cartography

A couple of weeks ago, my lil bro asked if I felt like illustrating a map as though I was a Lord [Lordess šŸ’šŸ½ā€ā™€ļø] in his Dungeons and Dragons campaign, not specifically to be used by any one, just to make a map with the same specs. Uh duh, of course I want to!

So I was given a whole bunch of distillery-market-value mumbo jumbo, town population maths, town era and style and of course, a rough map, so what I create could fit in with his exciting D&D islands.
With the prompt of 1800s era map of french farmhouses, I got to work.

I took inspiration from both 1800’s maps for their texture and detail, and Red Dead Redemption 2 for their simplicity. To skip talking about a few repetitive, time consuming steps, here is where I have the map so far! [I’m yet to ask for his feedback for this latest version.]

Now, I haven’t asked if this map would be useful at all to him in his game, but it was fun to make šŸ™‚
